Do I need a lactation consultant?

If you are experiencing difficulty with low milk supply, overactive let down, mastitis or difficulty with your infant latching then scheduling a consult is a great first step to a successful breastfeeding journey.

Prenatal Lactation Consultation

  • Takes place in my office

  • This is a Free 15-minute prenatal consultation

  • Talk about any specific concerns/questions that you may have about breastfeeding prior to baby’s arrival

  • **This does not include a flange fitting, please see Back to work consultation**

  • ***For a more in-depth prenatal consultation longer than 15 minutes please reach out to us.

Initial Postpartum Lactation Consultation

  • Takes place in my office or in your home. (Travel fee will be charged for in home consultations, this is not covered by insurance)

  • Detailed medical history of mother and baby

  • Physical assessment of mother and infant as appropriate to specific feeding concerns

  • Baby is weighed before and after a full feeding to determine "how much" is being transferred between mom and baby

  • Discuss any of your questions and/or concerns

  • Form a plan of care to meet your personal breastfeeding goals

  • Referrals to the primary healthcare provider and/or additional healthcare providers as appropriate

90 mins | Covered by insurance.

Or discounted rate for self-pay $155 for office visits. $185 for in home visits plus travel fee

Follow Up Postpartum Lactation Consultation

For families who have already had an initial consultation & would benefit from more in person support

  • Takes place in my office or in your home. (Travel fee will be charged for in home consultations, this is not covered by insurance)

  • Limited medical history of mother and baby based on specific feeding concern

  • Limited physical assessment based on specific feeding concern

  • Baby weight check

  • Form a plan of care to address the specific concern that helps you meet your personal breastfeeding goals

Private Breastfeeding Class

In Home or Virtual (Travel fee will be charged for in home consultations this is not covered by insurance)

  • Provides basic breastfeeding information to arm you with the skills and confidence needed beginning with your very first breastfeeding experience

Telehealth/Virtual

Telehealth/Virtual consultations are a safe way to receive effective lactation support when in person consultation is not possible. Telehealth consultations will need more than one parent or support person who can assist with moving the camera.

Back to work consultation

Going Back to Work Consults are for parents who must return to work and leave their baby. Our discussion will help parents prepare for their return to work and includes help with setting up and using a breast pump. This service does not include any breastfeeding assessment. What areas do you service?

What forms of payment do you accept?

Debit/credit cards, cash, and personal checks are acceptable forms of payment. A 3% service fee will be charged for Debit/credit cards. Checks returned for insufficient funds will incur an additional fee of $30. Payment plans may be discussed prior to consultation if needed.

Do you charge a travel fee?

Yes, Travel fees apply for in home visits. Insurance does not cover this fee. Travel fee is based on distance.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept many commonly known insurances. Coverage of lactation services vary between insurance companies and your individual insurance plan. If your insurance is approved, your insurance will cover 6 consultations (travel fees are not covered by insurance).

Do you accept Medicaid?

We do not accept Medicaid at this time. We do offer an additional discount for families with Medicaid. Please reach out to us for more information.

When do I pay?

For self-pay clients, payment is due at the time of service.


Why breastmilk vs. formula?

There are so many benefits, but the one we stand behind most: The cost of formula far exceeds the cost of a lactation consult. If a baby is breastfed, medical and pharmaceutical costs are significantly lower as well.
