What is a Lactation Consultant?

A lactation consultant is a healthcare professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding and infant feeding. International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) have completed extensive education and clinical training and have met the requirements established by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE), including passing a comprehensive certification exam.
